The Charge d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Albania, David Wisner, spoke from the ceremony held today in the capital as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine on the 2nd anniversary of the start of the war with Russia.

Wisner said that Albania has given extraordinary support in the last 2 years to Ukraine by holding Russia accountable in the UN Security Council.

He added that Albania also remains a partner of the USA and that the latter remains committed to the defense of Ukraine.

" Thank you for organizing this event and for bringing us all here. Albania has been a true partner of Ukraine, providing exceptional support in the last 2 years. From the country's time in the Security Council holding Russia accountable for its aggression. Albania has shown that it has been a phenomenal partner of the Ukrainian people and the USA. The US remains committed to protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

We must also appreciate the brave Ukrainians who have shown bravery for their country. They have taught President Putin Newton's third law, every action has an equal reaction. "Zelensky did not escape and NATO has grown today and we are all together today and we will be as we move forward ," he said.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's ambassador to Albania, Volodymyr Shkurov, during his speech at the ceremony held today in the capital, expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity shown to his country in condemning the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

" Thank you for your support and solidarity for what we are here today, to condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine. We will never forget the morning two years ago like today. These two years of aggression have shown us who our friends and enemies are. Brave Ukrainians had faith in themselves and are still fighting today for victory over the aggressor. It pains me to say that Russia is gathering troops and large numbers of soldiers. Over 20% of Ukraine is occupied today. Now Russia has increased the number of mass attacks on Ukrainian territory with the use of various missiles and drones. I am grateful to the Albanian government that has extended residency for Ukrainians who were forced to leave their country. I thank our allies for their valuable assistance. I want to thank the municipality of Tirana for the continuous help and a greeting to all the members of the Albanian politics and the representatives of the embassies who are present here ", said Shkurov, among others.
