Marco Alberti, the new ambassador of Italy in Tirana

Marco Alberti will be the new Italian ambassador to our country, succeeding Farizio Buccin, who completed his 5-year mandate.

The news was announced by the Italian Foreign Ministry through a post on the social network 'X'.

Marco Alberti was born in Bukavu, Zaire, on May 25, 1972 and graduated in Law from the University of Bologna in 1996.

He began his diplomatic career in 2000 and served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Undersecretary of State. In 2003 he left for his first mission abroad at the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as Vicar of the Political Office and Head of the Press and Communications Office, and then assumed the functions of Adjunct Consul in New York, United States of America, in 2008.

In 2011, he returned to the Farnesina at the Press and Institutional Communication Service, where he remained until the following year, when he began working at ENEL SpA as Head of International Institutional Affairs, carrying out support actions for the internationalization of the company, which is present in over 30 countries around the world, and coordinating relations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and other institutions.

Always focused on innovation and public-private relations issues, he has participated in numerous multi-stakeholder negotiations, also as ENEL Sherpa in the B20 Energy and Resource Efficiency Task Force. He has also held teaching positions at various Italian universities in the fields of strategic studies, economic diplomacy and digital diplomacy.

Since September 1, 2021, he has been the Ambassador of Italy in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, with secondary accreditation to Kyrgyzstan.

In 2013, he was named Knight of the Order of Merit of the Republic.

Married, father of three children.
