The voting process for the election of the head of the Albanian Muslim Community has ended. Bujar Spahiu has been elected again at the head of the Muslim Community of Albania with 82 votes, out of 92 votes in total.
Spahiu ran again after the end of the 5-year mandate, against Eduard Shefki, Administrator of the Mufti of Durrës and Emirjon Vathaj, Mufti of Berat.
"I will follow the path, the tradition, of the high morality of the prophet. I will continue to listen attentively to honest criticism that comes my way. This institution represents all Muslims in the Republic of Albania. Allah also helps those who, if given power on earth, perform prayer and prevent what is wrong. I will follow faithfully, as I have done until today. God commands us to be just and treat everyone well, regardless of race and color. Allah is the fairest assessor. I have been open to any criticism and I guarantee you that I will be in your midst until everything is resolved. The institution I lead will pursue all legal avenues against anyone who incites hatred between Muslim brothers and sisters," Spahiu said, among other things, after being elected head of the Muslim Community.
We remind you that parallel to the elections, a rally took place, where a part of the Muslim faithful contested the elections in this way. They accused the Muslim Community, which is captured by the Gülenist Association.
Outcome:
Bujar Spahiu – 82
Eduard Shefki – 3
Emirjon Vathaj – 3
Invalid – 4
