Prime Minister Edi Rama, in an interview given for the show "L'aria che Tira" on LA7, commented on the latest developments in the country, including tourism and his relationship with Meloni, which he called Albania's new sister.
Focusing on the immigration situation, Rama added that it is a problem not for Europe, which according to him is often the lady who gives lectures and morals, but adds that this is a common problem and not only for Italy.

Your country is experiencing a golden season in terms of tourism, with a 33% increase in visitors. What is the secret of your success and how did you manage to offer your country this attractive image?
Edi Rama : It's not a secret, it's a job done with a lot of passion, with a lot of patience in the last few years, that I think we managed to free ourselves from the stigma attached to us in the 1990s, when we were seen as a country that didn't dare above all, to go, because it was "an unsafe place", "a place full of criminals", "with poor people".
While, to give you a figure that you probably don't know, Albania is the last country in Europe for residential burglaries, just to give you the idea of safety, then for the Italians, Albania is their home, as we feel Italians and we feel connected to Italy.
Many Italians are choosing Albania to spend their holidays as the country guarantees wonderful beaches and dream land and competitive prices, the model is that of a low-cost tourism?
Edi Rama : Low-cost is initially, since in Albania the prices will increase because it is natural. We are very aware that this mass tourism automatically brings the "work of ambassadors" of the country, who speak well and help us to strengthen this new image, but it also has great risks.
We are working on resorts that are luxurious, but it will take years. So today is not an election, it is a journey, and this journey includes low prices.
A post that has sparked many discussions where you contrast two events, the Vlora ship with migrants landing in Bari in 1991 and on the other hand the Italians visiting your country. How much has Albania changed since 1991?
Edi Rama : Above all, I want to say that you are the place of many wonderful things. Now instead of taking it with a little humor, you are taking everything seriously and making controversy about everything. Actually it was a meme, and I fell into the trap, after it was sent to me and I thought that it was really Corriere della Sera who had made this meme about this situation. Then with my young people of social networks we said let's post it to make a joke, after that there was controversy both in Albania and Italy. In Italy the Italians said I was ironic, in Albania they said I was ironic the Albanians. This is a happy moment in our history, so let's laugh at the joke.
I also laughed because for many years, Italy has been a kind of Eldorado for the Albanian people, but now you seem more hesitant (towards Italy).
Edi Rama : No, you say this because you need controversy. We always see you as the country where we belong for one or another historical, cultural reason, and even from the almost genetic similarity, we feel almost Italian. In Italy we feel at home, we love Italy, we love Italians, and we don't like to see you frowning but smiling. And Italy is beautiful, you are blessed by god if you are Italian and live in that wonderful country.
You are a socialist prime minister, how do you see it, emphasizing that there is a long friendship between Albania and Italy, the Italy led by Giorgia Meloni?
Edi Rama: Italia është Italia, qoftë ajo e Giorgia Melonit, apo e Romano Prodit, Silvio Berlusconi-t, Mario Draghi-t, mbetet gjithmone Italia, me problemet e saj që të gjithë përpiqen t’i zgjidhin dhe të bëjnë më të mirën e tyre. Unë jam socialist, por përveçse jam një socialist, unë jam një vëlla i vjetër i Italisë, dhe kështu ndihem shumë afër Xhorxhias dhe më duket se ajo është një motër e re e Shqipërisë. Ne kuptohemi shumë mirë, nuk ka lidhje nëse je socialist apo demokrat apo i ndonjë prirjeje tjetër, duhet të bëhen ato zgjedhje që i duhen vendit pa rënë në kurthin e ideologjive, se ashtu nuk shkon dot askund.
Shqipëria prej kohesh pret të dëgjohet në Komisionin Evropian për të qenë anëtare, pse po angazhohet kaq shumë dhe mendon se Evropës i intereson më shumë të hapë kanalet preferenciale për Ukrainën?
Edi Rama: Ne kemi lindur me këtë ëndërr, e për herë të parë në historinë tonë të qindra vjetëve, ne na është dhënë mundësia të zgjedhim. Deri dje ishin të tjerët që zgjidhnin për ne, perandori, regjime, diktaturë dhe me radhë. Për herë të parë na ka takuar që ne të zgjedhim dhe zgjedhja jonë është shumë e qartë. Duam të jemi pjesë e Evropës, është ëndrra jonë dhe jemi vendi me euro-optimist i kontinentit. Sot për sot, mbase jemi si të dashuruar që duam të martohemi me çdo kusht, mbase më vonë gjërat mund të bëhen më komplekse. Por për momentin duam të jemi pjesë e Evropës, dhe Italia është aleati më i qenësishëm i yni. Dhe Giorgia kur shfaqet dhe flet në skenën ndërkombëtare, duket më e gjatë se unë. Ne do të vazhdojmë me aleancën tonë, do të vazhdojmë me këtë miqësi, Italia është aty për ne dhe ne ndihemi të bekuar që jemi afër jush.
Kryeministri Rama është një ish-basketbollist, prandaj kur i referohet Giorgia Melonit si më e gjatë po bën një kompliment të madh.
Edi Rama: Është e vërtetë, ajo është kaq e respektuar dhe më duket se është surpriza më e madhe për klubin euroatlantik që qartësisht nuk e priste, dhe tani gjendet përballë kësaj gruaje që ka një karizmë, që është e pabesueshme.
Lidhur me çështjen e migrantëve në Detin Mesdhe ku vazhdon ende të vdesin njerëz, dua t’ju pyes si kryeministri i një vendi që ka patur një histori të gjatë të migracionit, sipas jush a duhet të punojë Evropa për të garantuar të drejtën për të mos u nisur apo të vendosë në zbatim një operacion për të shpëtuar të gjitha jetët që kalojnë detin?
Edi Rama: Ky është një problem i vjetër, i qartë, për fat të keq pasqyron një Evropë që nuk arrin të shikojë gjithmonë drejt, dhe kthehet në anën tjetër kur ka çështje të nxehta si këto dhe çfarë bën në këtë rast? Ia lë çdo gjë Italisë! Fakti që Italia është vendi i parë i ankorimit në tokë, nuk mund të bëhet mallkim për një vend të tërë dhe nëse Evropa është e bashkuar, nëse Evropa është e përbashkët, ky është një problem për Evropën dhe jo një problem thjesht për Italinë. Këtë ju e dini, e keni thënë për vite, po nuk është e lehtë, sepse Evropa shpeshherë është e zonja të japë leksione dhe të bējë moral, kur nuk është nevoja të vendosësh fytyrën. Dhe kur e vendos fytyrën Italia, disa kthehen në anën tjetër dhe rikthehen vetëm për të bërë moral.
