The 49 migrants from Bangladesh, Egypt and Gambia were rescued over the weekend in international waters south of Lampedusa.
In the “Italian” hotspot of Shëngjin, asylum seekers will be identified and undergo an in-depth medical check. If vulnerable conditions are found, they will be sent to Italy, as happened in some cases in the two previous transfers to Albania, in October and November 2024.
