The leader of the Liberal Party, Ilir Meta, and Monika Kryemadhi were today officially named defendants in the CEZ-DIA affair and lobbying in the US.
Regarding this, lawyer Romeo Kara, invited to the 'Studio Live' show on Report TV, said that with the charges against Meta, he risks up to 15 years in prison.
"The prosecution is convinced and has collected evidence that he committed these criminal offenses and will pursue him in a regular process where he will face the other accused party. Today he is accused, he has the same status as Berisha, accused of corruption and other criminal offenses.
"Meta is accused of corruption, money laundering and failure to declare assets. If you take these charges separately and combine them, you risk 12 to 15 years in prison. The court should rule quickly on this case, not like it did for Berisha, which took too long," he said.
The lawyer also commented on today's session at the Criminal Court with Monika Kryemadhi, after he filed a defamation lawsuit against her.
The mayor accused him of being paid to file a report against Ilir Meta.
"Kryemadhi said in a media interview that the report on Cez-Dia was made by me, who was paid by the socialists. I made the report when the incinerators were not a scene and I sued him for defamation and insult because it is not true. Monika let it be understood that it may be incorrect information. I want to restore dignity in the country. There is nothing more precious than dignity," he said.
