The passing of Anastas Janullatos, the Archbishop's body arrives in Tirana

The body of Archbishop Anastasios Janullatos arrives in Tirana today.

The departure of the Archdiocese took place yesterday at around 10:00 from the Athens Cathedral, and it will enter Albanian territory through the Kakavija border crossing point.

The body arrives in Tirana today at around 4:00 PM, where tributes will be held for a two-day period.

The procession will be accompanied by the Metropolitan of Apollonia and Fier, Bishop Krougias Anastasios, and priests Charalambos Giokas and Spiridon Topantzas, who were his close collaborators and friends in the revival of the Church of Albania.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the Church of Greece, the Vice-President of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios Ierotheos, will be present.

Along the way there will be stops in the areas he served and worked for the reconstruction of the Albanian Autocephalous Church.

The funeral ceremony will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be in Tirana on Thursday to attend the funeral for the late Archbishop Anastas Yanullatos.

We recall that after the death of Archbishop Anastasios Janullatos, the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania declared five days of ecclesiastical mourning, from January 25 to January 29.

The Archbishop of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Anastas Yanullatos, passed away on the morning of January 25.

The Autocephalous Orthodox Church announced that Archbishop Anastasios Giannoulatos passed away at the age of 96, at the Evangelismos Hospital in Athens, as a result of multiple organ failure.
