The well-known judge of Brussels, Michel Claise, 67 years old, is working on a book about the Albanian mafia in Belgium. While talking about money laundering and brutality, Claise says that the Albanians are as powerful in Antwerp as the Mocromafia.
When asked why a book about the Albanian mafia, Claise answers:
" Double reason. " Because Albania exerts a great attraction on me. It is a beautiful place, with wonderful people and untouched nature. I recommend everyone to visit. And preferably not to wait too long, because a large amount of crime money is laundered on the Albanian coast. Man does everything to be allowed to build something. The magnificent coastline is under pressure. This fact is completely consistent with the second reason why I started this book: in my professional life I have a lot of contact with the Albanian mafia. It is omnipresent and powerful throughout Europe, but especially in Belgium ."
The judge further states that in 1997, the Albanian mafia took advantage of the crisis to remove weapons from its military units.
" That was the beginning of the arms trade, and those arms are still in circulation.
The phenomenon of the Albanian mafia, which already existed to some extent at the local level - developed phenomenally quickly only after the fall of the Berlin Wall at the end of 1989 and the fall of communism in Albania at the beginning of 1991. There were several causes, mainly economic . That place came out of nowhere. Overnight it became completely unprepared for a capitalist market economy. This resulted in a great disaster with great poverty. Many Albanians have tried to solve it in an honest way. But here there was also a new wave of migration. And the mafia phenomenon reared its ugly head ," he says further.
According to the Belgian judge, at the beginning of the millennium, the prostitution networks in Belgium fell under the control of the Albanians, as well as the import of cocaine through the port of Antwerp.
" Albanian mafia controls the port together with Colombians and Mexicans. Albanians are as powerful as Mokromafia. We learned this through Sky ECC. At the beginning of October, sixty Albanians arrested as part of that investigation will appear before the court. To say that Mocromafia dominates everything in the port of Antwerp is wrong. Albanians are also supreme. They are fighting each other for their lives, precisely because they are competitors ", declared the judge.
He also stops at the canon and murders according to the canon
"The canon is the code of honor that guides the entire society in Northern Albania. It is the code that organizes common life, relationships with women and revenge. Blood crimes must always be punished with blood. Even here, we regularly feel the consequences of the Canon. In 2019, such a conflict took place in Molenbeek. A man was hit with 12 bullets.”
As for the history of Albania, he compares it with North Korea.
“Yes, it was like North Korea today. This certainly played a role. First being so imprisoned and then bursting free from that yoke. But that Canon code dates back to the 15th century. So there are other elements at play that lie much further back in history.”
Belgian judge Michel Claise's book "Kodi Kanun" will be published at the end of October./Ora
