Criminology Professor Ervin Karamuço has stated that there are areas in Tirana where the police are unable to keep the situation under control.
He mentioned areas like Astiri or Liqeni i Thatë that have been created as a result of rapid demographic movements, which are used as shelters by criminal contingents.
" In Tirana we have areas where the police are unable to keep the situation under control and understand who is entering and who is leaving. Astiri, Liqeni i Thatë, are not informal but with rapid demographic movements, where criminal contingents have been found, who supposedly live in houses rented by ordinary people and are shelters. They choose the suburbs of Tirana ," said Karamuço.
