Analyst Enton Abilekaj says that the process where Nuredin Dumani is confessing, is actually a scanner of the underworld in Albania.
Invited to the show "Te Paespozuarit", Abilekaj said that the group of hired killers started as ordinary criminals, until today when they turned murder into a daily job for large criminal organizations.
According to him, Duman's confessions are a historical overview of how criminal groups have grown and created complex and highly profitable structures.
" Today we are unraveling very early events, such as the murder of the money changer, for example, which may be 12 years old. Events that have remained without perpetrators even though the perpetrators were known. How did they start, they show us the crime scanner, how the crime progressed in Albania. These were some people, ordinary criminals, who robbed moneylenders for a living, stole and robbed houses, tell how they killed the moneylender because they were amateurs and then, in the last phase, when they are professional killers, in the service of a very large level of crime. This is the scanner of the progress of crime in Albania. The criminals have been on the side of crime but also of justice and politics.
In 1998 or 1999, when I was at Gazeta Koha Jonë, I found Sokol Bregu talking on the phone at 12 o'clock at night and I asked him what he was still doing. He tells me that they have surrounded Zani Çauşi and want to arrest him, but they cannot arrest him. Why did I tell him? Because there is a senior politician who supports him. We returned the newspaper, the front page, and waited to see what would happen, would the politician give permission to be arrested. After our pressure, they surrendered and Zani was captured. Imagine now, if this went quietly as an event. What would happen today in Vlora? Today in Vlora, Zani Çaushi's gang could be a legislator, appoint the mayor, and become even bigger. What did not happen in that case, has happened in dozens of other cases, which have brought the crime to this point where it is today.
This trial shows us not only what the criminals have done, but also those who have supported the criminals in politics and justice, who have brought Albania to this state. Crime has entered the Parliament, it has directors in the ministries, it appoints police and diplomacy directors. Nuredin Duman's sister also worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. So, Duman's confessions make us this scanner, how they started as amateurs and how they became sophisticated today due to their connections with politics and protection from justice" , said Abilekaj.
