Shkodra sports have been shocked by the news of the passing of former basketball player and renowned coach, Fatjon Taraboshi, at the age of 39. The news was made public by the "Pro Shkodra" page on social networks.
Taraboshi was one of the prominent names in Shkodër basketball, contributing for years with the Vllaznia jersey, where he was declared champion several times. After ending his career as a player, he continued to remain close to the sport in the role of coach.
According to published information, he had been facing serious health problems for several months. A difficult surgical intervention was performed in Italy for his treatment, while the cost of treatment had prompted the organization of a solidarity campaign.
Just a few weeks ago, Taraboshi was publicly recognized for his long-standing contribution to basketball in the city of Shkodra. His passing has brought numerous reactions from the sports community and Shkodra citizens.
The president of KF Vllaznia, Alban Xhaferi, also reacted to his loss, writing in a post on social media:
" May his memory be eternal and in heaven. Rest in peace, Fatjon ."
Condolences have also been published by the Vllaznia basketball team, where Taraboshi will be remembered as an athlete who left his mark on the court and as a respected figure in Shkodran sports.
Fatjon Taraboshi was a father of two children and was known by relatives, friends and colleagues as a man dedicated to his family and work. His untimely passing is a great loss for the sport and the community of Shkodra.
