The Mufti of Shkodra, Muhamed Sytari, has spoken about the criminal events that have shaken the city in recent days.
In this context, the Mufti made an important proposal to reflect on the role of religion and spiritual education in society, expressing the idea of introducing a religious education subject in schools, which would teach children about the existence of God.
Mufti Sytari emphasized that turning towards God and education on faith are essential to stop moral degradation which, according to him, brings direct consequences to society.
He emphasized that, together with representatives of other religious faiths, they have been raising their voices for years for the inclusion of a subject on religious education in schools, in order for children to be taught fundamental concepts such as the existence of God and spiritual responsibility.
"For years, we have raised our voices, together with other religions, to the country's authorities, that the subject of religious education, of teaching faith, be part of the education curricula. To teach children that there is a God. My call and my message is for people to turn to God," he said in an interview for the "Review" show.
Respecting the secular character of the education system, the Mufti emphasized that religions are not opposed to knowledge and science; on the contrary, they honor knowledge as a divine gift.
"We respect school as secular, we have all done it. But we hold knowledge sacred. This knowledge has been sanctified to us by God, but we do not have the courage to allow it to enter our schools. God has given us life, God has sanctified knowledge," he said.
At the end of the interview, the Mufti's message was clear: Returning to God and spiritual education are necessary paths to a healthy and safe society.
