Ilir Meta, President of the PL, who has been in detention for a year by order of SPAK, has requested the lifting of the security measure.
According to News24 journalist Klodiana Lala, Meta's request comes a year after he was arrested.
SPAK has filed a series of charges against Meta, while the file has been sent for trial to the GJKKO.
In the request filed to terminate the security measure, Meta, through his legal defense, highlights the fact that he has been held in detention for 1 year, based on the complaint made by Romeo Kara.
Ilir Meta was arrested on October 21 of last year, on charges of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
The same procedure was followed for his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi, the latter's mother, Fatime Kryemadhi, as well as for the couple's two associates, Ema Çoku and Piro Xhixho. SPAK charged the latter with "passive corruption", while Ema Çoku with "money laundering".
Ilir Meta was officially informed of the charges in May, when he was taken into custody.
