Protest in Vlora

Citizens in Vlora, who are on the 5th day of suffering from the lack of water in their homes and businesses, continued their protest in front of the Municipality this morning, while Mayor Brunilda Mersini has avoided any contact with citizens. It seems that the disregard that Mersini is showing to citizens has increased tensions, especially when they claim that for 3 days they have been hearing lies that the defect is being fixed.

A day earlier, citizens with water bottles in their hands stormed the city theater hall, where the Municipality of Vlora had organized a gala evening for the end-of-year holidays, while the city suffers from a water shortage. The police were unable to stop dozens of revolted citizens, while Mersin today spoke of a natural disaster that caused the defect.

On the other hand, citizens are in the streets, revolted, while the Police have begun negotiations to have them vacate the streets and squares.

Shpëtim Hasanaliaj, deputy director of the Vlora Police, asked residents to clear the road, a request that was not accepted by them.

"We will not leave the square unless the mayor comes. We have had so many days of lies! Where are the deputies! We want water! Whom do we hold accountable? Balluku is under investigation like a thief with his own boots on," were some of their calls.
