SPAK Prosecutor Vladimir Mara has provided details regarding Operation 'Ura' conducted in several cities in Albania, including Italy, EU countries and South America.
Mara said that the entire cycle of activity, which is centered in Puglia, Italy, has been documented. On the other hand, Mara said that three restaurants in Durrës, a bar-cafe, and an Italian television station have been seized.
"Hello everyone and thank you all for your presence. I will try to briefly provide some more details regarding this investigation. As previously reported, it was a joint investigation between the Italian prosecution and SPAK. Parallel investigations were conducted in Italy and Albania and daily data was exchanged, where several quantities of drugs were seized in the Italian state.
The anti-mafia and Bari prosecutor's office have received data from SKY ECC that have presented a clear picture of this criminal group and we have managed to build the scope of this criminal activity that began in Puglia, in several EU countries, Belgium, the Netherlands and in South America. What is new in this investigation is that, in addition to the data from SKY ECC, data from the platforms have also been used.
30 episodes of trafficking in Italy and 10 episodes in Albania have been seized. The entire cycle from the countries of origin has been documented and, thanks to the analysis of the DIA directorate, it has been possible to conclude all this criminal activity with a value of approximately 5 million euros. I would like to take this moment to thank the Italian authorities and we, thanks to this cooperation, had this result. We have executed 52 arrest warrants and 42 security measures have been investigated and corrupt acts have been identified in Albanian institutions, for state officials and for a lawyer.
"Today, the court decisions were executed. Three restaurants in Durrës, a bar-cafe, 6 commercial companies and a television in the city of Vlora were seized. During this investigation, 3 million euros in cash were previously seized, which have also been subjected to this criminal investigation," said Mara.
