Without a good start to the tourist season, beachgoers continue to be endangered by boats. The driver of a Jet Ski on Palasa beach was fined 100,000 Lek.

The police announce that the person identified with the initials KL, while sailing with a Jet Ski, violated the perimeter of water safety, putting the lives of beachgoers at risk. Also, the police have blocked the vessel in question.

"The Dhërmi Border Police Services, in cooperation with the Maritime Police Unit, during the patrolling of the coastline, in order to guarantee order and public safety in the tourist areas, as well as to control the use of watercraft, have immediately intervened on Palasa beach, blocking a Jet Ski that had breached the water safety perimeter for beachgoers, putting their lives at risk. The Border Police Services have punished the driver of the boat, a citizen of KL, with the administrative measure of 100,000 new lek and have blocked the boat in Himare Port.

The Border Police appeals to all users of watercraft to strictly respect the perimeter of water safety for beachgoers, to implement the rules for the use of watercraft and to respect the designated areas for navigation with these tools. It also invites citizens to report any violation of the security perimeter and irregular use of watercraft to the toll-free number 112, guaranteeing a quick response, according to the law," the police announced.

We remind you that due to the violation of the security perimeter, in August 2022, the 7-year-old girl Jonada Avdia lost her life. The little girl was swimming with her father in the sea, when former commissioner Arjan Tase hit her to death.
To avoid such tragedies, all boat drivers must strictly follow the rules.
