Democratic leader Sali Berisha has been summoned by SPAK not regarding the 'Partizani' case, but for a report filed with the Special Prosecution Office by Judge Irena Gjoka.
In fact, the complaint was not filed directly against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, but he was summoned in his capacity as a person who has knowledge of the circumstances of the event.
More specifically, an accusation has been made against Judge Gjoka for a bribe of 500 thousand euros. The statement was made on September 23, 2024, at a time when Sali Berisha and Jamarbër Malltezi were under security measures, while the accusation was made by Argita Malltezi.
"What is known by everyone, I believe also by journalists, judges and prosecutors of SPAK, 17 people are included in the Encrochat file. 17 people from the special judiciary, in addition to others. The question you should ask is why this does not come out? The judge in the case, Irena Gjoka, is also allegedly in a video, is it true, I do not know, I am told that it is in a video taken from a mobile phone of a journalist who has left Albania, in which she is filmed talking to a former exponent of the Socialist Party negotiating the fee he is asking of 500 thousand euros to not include him in a structured criminal group. SPAK must tell us whether this is true or not", was the statement of the daughter of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Referring to this statement, Gjoka has addressed SPAK, which has initiated criminal proceedings 193/2024. In the framework of the investigations, SPAK has decided to summon Sali Berisha as a person in the know, while the prosecutor of the Special Prosecution is Elvin Gokaj. Berisha will appear before the BKH agent, Ardit Neli at 10:00 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the summons warns that if he does not appear, he will be taken by force.
The former Prime Minister has articulated a series of accusations against Irena Gjoka. He has accused the latter of falsifying documents in the vetting process, hiding a conviction and deportation from Greece. Berisha has even presented a series of documents that, according to him, prove his statements regarding the accusations against Irena Gjoka.
The latter has avoided public responses or reactions and seems to have chosen to address SPAK, not to sue Berisha, but his daughter. The act for which Gjoka has filed the lawsuit has to do with insulting a judge and is punishable by a fine up to 3 months in prison.
Meanwhile, Sali Berisha's lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, has announced that the leader of the Democratic Party has been summoned to testify before SPAK, in connection with a complaint filed by GJKKO judge Irena Gjoka. Gjokutaj has also published the subpoena signed by the prosecutor.
