The former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, has returned to prison after his health condition improved.
He was sentenced to 2 years and eight months in prison by the Special Court of Appeals but ended up in the hospital when the decision was made.
Dako was admitted to the Infectious Diseases ward under the supervision of the Prison Police Force, due to health problems, as it is learned that he suffers from arrhythmia, anxiety and a herniated disc.
According to his lawyer, Vangjush Dako will only stay in prison for 6 days, as his sentence is expected to end on September 27. He has served most of his sentence under "house arrest."
Dako was accused by SPAK of abuse of office in two episodes, the first related to the approval of a construction permit in favor of the company Fakle sh.pk, where he and his subordinates drafted the documents two years after the construction had been completed and the residents had entered their apartments to live.
The second episode is related to a procurement procedure, for consultancy services, securing a project called "Design and implementation for the Coastal Promenade and Public Beach from Bërryli to Currila".
According to the Special Prosecution Office, the commission established by order of Dako incorrectly calculated the limit fund, almost 10 times more than the value that should have been calculated based on the decision of the Council of Ministers.
