The poor level of Albanian students in the international test "Pisa 2022" is an alarm bell for the government and the Ministry of Education.
Academician Artan Fuga says that these results were expected since all the indicators and studies in it speak of a lack of attention to education. Unfortunately, according to Fuga, young people are not being motivated towards school, but towards emigration.
The results of "PISA 2022" ranked Albania almost last among the 81 countries participating in the test. Compared to the international exam of 2018, our country fell 69 places in Mathematics, 47 in reading and the same in questions dedicated to science.
Another reason that led us to these levels, according to Professor Fuga, are the poor textbooks in schools.
Academician Fuga calls on the political class to see education as a priority, regardless of colors and beliefs, because otherwise the decline will not stop.
The international Pisa exam takes place once every three years. Due to the pandemic, which had negative effects on all countries, this test took place in 2022. Nearly 6,500 15-year-old students from 274 schools were randomly selected from Albania.
