Analyst Ervis Iljazaj has analyzed the political situation in the country and the approach of the May 11 elections.
Invited to the "News24" studio, he said that the decisions taken recently by the government, starting from the end-of-year bonuses, the spring bonus or even the decision made public today to lower the price of energy, were taken within of the electoral campaign.
" There are some recent government decisions that have the flavor of elections, such as the salary increase, the bonus for pensioners. I don't know the financial effects they have on the budget. For political reasons or not, if the citizens benefit, let's take the good side. Usually, governments in these periods "open the bag", but as long as the citizens benefit, let them benefit. However, citizens are often not influenced by just one thing to vote. There is a variable of things. Someone who has always voted PD does not vote left even if the price of energy goes down. The affected part is very small
This is the kind of electoral engineering that governments do. It is very naive to believe that all this has nothing to do with the electoral period" , he said.
Iljazaj also spoke about the vote of the diaspora, which he called a determining factor for the outcome of the elections.
" For me, the vote of the diaspora will be decisive in choosing the government in 2025. There are two Albanias that vote, there are almost the same number of voters both inside and outside the country. The question is how much the diaspora will be willing to vote. I see the opposition at a disadvantage" , he explained.
As for the leader of PL Ilir Meta, who is in a cell, and the leader of DP Sali Berisha, who stayed for about a year under the security measure "House Arrest", he said that this has its impact, since DP for one year he missed the meetings of the leader in the field.
" Parties in Albania are human parties, and the fate of the party is related to the fate of its leader ," Ljazaj said.
