US bank chief denies abuse allegations and seeks damages for reputational damage...
JPMorgan Chase CEO Lorna Hajdini has filed a defamation lawsuit in New York Supreme Court against former banker Chirayu Rana, accusing him of making false claims aimed at damaging her professional and personal image.
According to the court filing, Hajdini claims that Rana has been conducting a campaign of false accusations for months to exert public and legal pressure on her, with the aim of gaining millions of dollars. She is seeking damages for the consequences that, according to her, the accusations have brought to her career and private life.
The former banker has previously alleged that the Albanian executive drugged and forced him into non-consensual sex, including accusations of “sexual slavery.” Hajdini has denied all allegations, calling them completely fabricated and defamatory.
JPMorgan Chase has also come out in support of her. The American bank stated that it does not believe the allegations against the executive and that internal investigations have not uncovered evidence to support the claims made by Rana.
Rana had previously filed another lawsuit against Hajdini using the pseudonym "John Doe." In that lawsuit, he accused him of sexual abuse, threats, and racist behavior. According to his claims, he was also warned that he would lose his bonus if he refused sexual intercourse.
US media reports that JPMorgan had launched an internal investigation into the case, but according to them, Rana had not fully cooperated with the investigation. The case is expected to continue in the New York courts, with both sides accusing each other of intentional damage to reputation and attempts to gain financial gain.
