Clashes over Vlora Airport, Pacolli lashes out at Rama: Let him take it,
Rama-Pacolli

Kosovar businessman Behgjet Pacolli has reacted publicly for the first time about the situation created at Vlora Airport, hinting that the project is being taken over by the Albanian state.

In a post on social media, where he published a phone conversation with an Albanian journalist, Pacolli declares that he does not want to clash with the state, but accuses the authorities of the way his company is being treated.

"Let them take the airport! I don't want to fight the state. The state has its own power and can use it as it wants. But the way this power is being used is illegal and unacceptable for a country that claims to be a state of law," Pacolli writes.

For the first time, the businessman seems to directly blame the Albanian state for the situation created in the strategic Vlora Airport project, while hinting that the police intervention was the turning point in relations between the parties.

Pacolli emphasizes that the airport was built entirely with his own funding and that over 310 million euros have been invested so far.

"The airport was built exclusively with my financial means. There are over 310 million euros invested and committed in the form of guarantees. Valon Ademi alone, as the contractor, has received over 35 million euros from the MABCO guarantee," he declares.

In his reaction, Pacolli also addresses the situation of workers and subcontractors, guaranteeing that any financial obligations will be settled.

"They have been paid and any remaining obligations will be paid down to the last cent. As for our workers and experts, we will try to engage them in other projects abroad. They are valuable to us and will not be neglected," the Kosovar businessman said.

But according to him, the greatest damage is not financial, but human and moral, after the police intervention at the construction site.

"These people have had their dignity violated by the police intervention. Their work tools, equipment, personal belongings, safes, personal materials and work materials in warehouses have been left at the construction site. The most serious thing is that the human dignity of the workers has been violated," Pacolli declares.

He warns that the consequences of this situation will affect not only his company, but also the confidence of foreign investors in Albania.

"MABCO's material issues will, sooner or later, be regulated by law. But the damage done to human dignity, trust in the state and Albania's image before investors is not easily repaired," Pacolli emphasizes.

At the end of the reaction, he declares that he will continue to defend the interests of workers and the principle that the state should be a guarantor of the law and not pressure on investors.

"I will continue to defend the interest of the nation, the interest of workers, and the principle that the state should be a guarantor of the law, not an instrument of pressure on those who work, build, and invest," he concludes.
