The Chief Inspector General, Dashnor Sula, held a meeting with the operators of regional inspectorates in Vlora, a city that, according to him, has a strategic role in the functioning of inspection structures, especially during the tourist season.
In a statement to the media, Sula spoke about reforming the inspectorate system and creating a special structure, which also includes the idea of merging the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection with local inspectorates. He acknowledged that illegal construction remains a serious problem for the coastline, citing the recent case in Saranda.
" We have launched a series of meetings in all regions of the country to discuss the problems and the functioning of regional inspectorates. Vlora has a strategic importance for tourism and requires increased attention. Each inspectorate will be tasked with establishing special task forces to serve tourists and local citizens. Each inspector must be vigilant at all times to prevent any situation that could affect Albania's image during the tourist season ," Sula declared.
He emphasized that controls will be continuous, especially for entities operating in coastal areas, ranging from food safety to service standards.
" Each inspector must monitor commercial entities, restaurants and activities on the coastline 24 hours a day, to guarantee quality service and consumer protection. Tolerance will be zero for any violation. There will be no tolerance for inspectors who violate the law or abuse their duty ," said the Chief Inspector General.
Sula also announced that communication with citizens will be strengthened through new reporting and signaling platforms.
" We have set up a communication portal for citizens, so that control does not remain only in the eyes of the inspector, but also in the hands of citizens. Next week, the 0800 green line will also start operating, to give citizens the opportunity to report any problems or violations ," he declared.
Regarding illegal construction, Sula admitted that the situation on the coast remains worrying.
" Vlora is a plague, like the entire coast, in terms of illegal construction. The latest case in Saranda clearly shows the government's willingness to intervene and no longer tolerate illegality ," he said.
The Chief Inspectorate's meetings are taking place within the framework of training and coordination of inspection structures throughout the country, with a focus on ensuring a problem-free tourist season.
