Today, the hearing against former defense minister Fatmir Mediu for the massacre of Gërdec is taking place at GJKKO. The session was held with debates between the lawyer, the prosecutor and the judge for the questioning of the experts who determined the economic damage caused by the explosion of March 15, 2008.
The experts asked for more time to give answers to the lawyers, while Mediu's lawyer Ardian Visha said that they cannot ask questions when their quarter is not accepted. Prosecutor Klodian Braho also suggested that the experts be given more time.
Excerpts from the debate in the session:
Expert Bejhed Zeneli: It is difficult for us to agree on every question here. We cannot, it is a material and we will discuss about that material. For all questions, we are ready to answer either in writing or in a second moment. Now we can't, for a material that is 500 pages. We have read the material several times, but we cannot answer now. You put us in trouble too.
Visha: My suggestion is that the experts define the methodology of their work, how they performed the act. It is impossible to address specific questions. Who wrote who? How did they divide the work? So as the expert says that the work is together, it is difficult to ask questions. Why should something that could be easy be made difficult?
Klodian Braho: We think to continue with the experts' questions. If they are not able to answer today, take the time to be selected in the next session.
Ardian Visha: This is not a way of working. If special questions are the majority, how will this work be divided?
Visha-experts: On what basis did you interpret that the minister's note is an order?

Experts: We have no answer.
Visha: Who among you has real scientific quality with an academic title?
Experts: None of us.
Visha: Appreciate the great compliment the judge gave you, saying you are a scientist. I have no way of asking questions, when three quarters of them are not accepted. They are designated because they are ordered as such, at the time of action. We claim exceeding their powers to draw conclusions.
