And while Prime Minister Edi Rama posts on social media footage from the action to free up public spaces, where riot police tear down tents or metal structures set up by various businesses, former Democratic MP Saimir Korreshi has published a video where a tree has been uprooted in one of the neighborhoods of Lushnja.
"Edi Rama has given the order to cut down the tree," Korreshi says in the published video, while Lushnja Municipality employees use a saw to cut down the branches of a tree.
"This tree here is 40 years old. Does this tree occupy a sidewalk and public space? Here is the shade, you like to sit. They will leave us in the sun. Where is the public space that this tree occupies? What business is this tree taking up here? It is not even a sidewalk. This business is a shame. In the middle of August, you leave it to rot?", said Korreshi.
