Online pyramid schemes not only deceived citizens, but also the State Police itself. Hundreds of rank-and-file police officers, mainly inspectors, invested money in these fraudulent schemes.
Police officers, especially from the Tirana and Lezha districts, like many citizens, have been deceived by online pyramid schemes, in the hope that by investing in them they would gain more money.
After the discovery of fraud schemes such as XUEX, it was the officers themselves who reported the individuals who ran these fraudulent schemes to the cybercrime sector.
Police investigations into the bases of online pyramid scheme groups have now spread across the country. This Monday, Ereledio Shebeku was also arrested. According to police, the 35-year-old is suspected of being the main organizer for the Divjaka area in connection with the organization of these schemes, while his partner remains wanted.
Meanwhile, sources from the Police indicate that the main bases of pyramid schemes are not only in Divjaka and the Fier district, where the latest operation took place, but that the Cyber Crime Directorate is also investigating larger groups of online pyramid schemes, mainly in Tirana, but also in other cities in the country, and other arrests are expected soon./ A2 CNN
