Analyst Ilir Yzeiri has stated that the political process to dismiss Erion Veliaj as mayor of Tirana is a wrong decision.
Invited to the show "Today Live in Albania", Yzeiri also criticizes SPAK prosecutors, who he said are holding Veliaj "hostage" under arrest in prison.
According to the analyst, Erion Veliaj cannot be removed from the Socialist Party.
"He is being held in prison as a hostage of a group of prosecutors who have taken the justice reform hostage. Rama had the opportunity to show us that the justice reform has defects and that the government program should be committed to fixing those defects. The power they have given to SPAK prosecutors is excessive and is being used for petty revenge."
The Prime Minister makes a politically wrong decision, he makes a hasty decision. Tirana needs justice. Those who think they can remove Erion Veliaj from the party are wrong, he has never opposed the leadership of the Socialist Party. He makes it clear that he will follow legal steps, the moment he decides to address the Constitutional Court, this decision will become null and void. I do not agree with his decision to ask the municipal council to dismiss Veliaj", said Yzeiri.
