The Traffic Police have launched a harsh crackdown on the streets of the capital, issuing over 3,900 fines in just 72 hours.
In the name of road safety, controls have been extended to every corner of the city, catching dozens of drivers who do not respect the rules.
The balance is significant:
• 11 people were arrested or prosecuted for driving while intoxicated or without a driving license
• 14 vehicles are stranded on the spot
• 11 patents have been withdrawn for various violations
• 3900 fines have been issued for incorrect parking
• 54 more speeding tickets caught by smart police cars
The police warn that they will no longer tolerate anyone who risks their lives on the roads. "Driving under the influence of alcohol and without a driving license is a crime," the official statement says, and there will be immediate penalties for this.
Citizens are invited to report any violations to the number 112, with the promise of immediate response and preservation of anonymity.
