Public Health experts are raising the alarm for increased caution against pollution, especially lead metal. Children are most at risk from this element, with health damage that may be irreversible. According to studies, nearly 1.5% of annual deaths worldwide are caused by lead.
Lead particles are everywhere! This is the alarm raised by public health experts in Albania.
Besides being a metal, lead is a serious risk to the life and development of children in the womb. Public health specialists indicate which places or objects have the highest lead content.
Old buildings, traffic, uncertified toys, uncertified cosmetics, uncertified house paint, industrial areas, etc...
But what does lead cause if it enters children's bodies?
" Irreversible brain damage, damage to body organs and development ," says ISH expert Genta Qirjako.
The main appeal goes to parents for the highest possible hygiene among children, as well as to medical staff to be vigilant.
" Take the dust with a damp cloth. Check the products you buy without certification: toys, house paint. Avoid prolonged exposure to traffic or near industrial areas. Get a blood test to detect lead exposure ," she said.
