The red carpet was laid out for the graduates of Erseka in the center of the city, and the most special among them was Aldo Nurollari, who has down syndrome.
He was accompanied by his childhood friend, who kept her promise by coming as a chaperone at the prom, even though she has been living in New Zealand for years.
Katerina Sulo was by his side at the mini graduation 3 years ago, but the word given to Aldo to accompany him to the graduation was her kept promise. "I came for a very special reason, for something that happens once in a lifetime, I wouldn't have the opportunity again. I promised Aldo at the age of 9 when we went to high school that we would go to high school together and we finally did it. It was difficult to be busy with my parents just a little bit because I wanted to come in July, but the graduation could not take place without me", she says.
The two young people have known each other since kindergarten and their social relationship has been very special." I have known Aldo since kindergarten, when we returned, since kindergarten. He is my brother not just a friend. No, because we grew up with Aldo, others don't see him differently. He is our brother in the whole group of society. I don't think anyone would single him out," says Katerina.
Touched, the girl who traveled from New Zealand to Erseka just to make Aldon happy has a message for other young people.
"My message is don't look at what someone suffers from or what makes them different, because it's not a disease. It is unique. I don't want to cry. This makes Aldo unique. Now that I live in Zealand, Aldo writes to me every day. My sister tells me how are you? You didn't hear the word;" I'm good or bad sister", Aldo will not stop writing. Aldo is the man with the whitest heart in this square", she appeals.
"Not even the soil dissolves the promise", returns from New Zealand for the friend with down syndrome. / Euronews Albania
