NATO has agreed to contracts worth ten billion dollars for the production of weapons that Ukraine needs.
The North Atlantic Alliance, NATO, has placed among its main priorities the increase in the production of weapons, starting from the conflict in Ukraine.
The NATO office in Brussels stated in relation to the idea of revitalizing the arms industry in Albania that the discussions between the allies continue for "increasing the production of ammunition".
"Increasing the production of weapons is one of NATO's main priorities. As NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in his press conference after the NATO Defense Ministers' Meeting in February, discussions among the allies continue on “increasing ammunition production.
In order to replenish our stocks and continue to support Ukraine, we must move from the slow pace of peacetime to the high-paced production required by conflict.
To do this, manufacturers need signed contracts, and in the last few months alone, NATO has agreed to contracts worth ten billion dollars. This helps Ukraine, makes NATO stronger and offers more high-skilled jobs in Europe and North America," says NATO's position in the statement on ATSH.
Also, the NATO office in Brussels also emphasizes that its experts are evaluating the possibility of investing in the naval base of Durrës, Porto Romano.
"Regarding Porto Romano, we welcome offers from allies to host NATO facilities. Our experts look at all such offers and then provide advice based on the Alliance's military requirements," NATO continues.
Asked about the recent opening of the NATO air base in Kuçovo, the NATO office in Brussels said that it will serve the country.
"The air base of Kuçova will serve Albania and support the logistics, air operations, training and exercises of the NATO Alliance", announced NATO.
