Unlike previous times, the Tirana Court has left some of those arrested in the DP protest in prison.
Today, a hearing was held for the 11 protesters arrested after the April 17 rally, and at its conclusion, 5 of the arrested were left in custody, while the security measure "compulsory appearance" was imposed on the other 6.
Meanwhile, the defense had requested the disqualification of judge Enkel Peza with the argument that he and his family members held positions in the local SP structures in Kavaja. However, this request was rejected by Dritan Hallunaj.
The protesters are accused of "Strike in the Cause of Duty", "Disturbing Public Peace", "Destruction of Property by Fire", "Opposing a Law Enforcement Officer" and "Unlicensed Production and Possession of Dangerous Devices".
Unlike other protests, on Friday the police acted quickly and caught the Molotov cocktail throwers by surprise, neutralizing them on the spot. The arrest in flagrante delicto has convinced the court to leave them in custody.
