The chairman of Lévizje Bashke and activist Arlind Qori together with the supporters of his political force protested today against the construction of a tower in the park behind the National Theater of Opera and Ballet in the capital.
Qori has declared in front of the protesters that Tirana is one of the least green cities in Europe, as he added that after this park there will be similar constructions to the Rinia park.
He recalled the eavesdropping of the Italian mafia organization Ndragheta a few years ago, saying that at that time it was discussed to build in Tirana to launder money, since the square meter of a tower was bought for 500 euros and today it can be sold for about 5000 euros.
"The protection of this park is not only the protection of the city, it is the protection of public health. Tirana may be one of the least green cities in Europe. It is this park that they are taking, the Rinia park that they will take after that and the one of the Lake that they are eroding day by day.
In the interceptions of Ndragheta, they said that they should invest in construction in Tirana, since they could get a meter for 500 euros and sell it for 3000 euros. Today, a square meter in the towers costs 5,000 euros, 10 times the profit in this business.
There is no European country where such a charade takes place. There is not a country in Europe that destroys its own heritage. Veliaj and Rama say that Tirana is not Paris to protect it. According to them, cities that are not Paris and Rome should be put on the pickaxe. Let's build a tower in the middle of Skanderbeg Square, why not?!" he said.
