Journalist Artan Hoxha, in the show "This Week" on News 24, analyzed the appointment of Ilir Proda as the new general director of the police, emphasizing the necessary links between this institution and the government.
Hoxha said that Albania is not at a stage where the police director can be independent. " He is obliged to cooperate with the prime minister, because he has the mandate. The policies of the governing plan are implemented on the basis of this mandate ", said Hoxha. According to him, the prime minister should choose among those who have the rank of the first leader, while Proda, as Hoxha pointed out, has not been in such a position before.
" I have the impression that Rama had Proda in mind for this position," said Hoxha, mentioning his career that has progressed step by step, starting from the simplest tasks to high positions and as deputy director of crimes in two districts .
He also noted that the appointment of Proda became visible, especially after the attacks he experienced during the election process. Hoxha added that in Albania there is no criminal organization stronger than the prime minister. "It is not the organizations that use the prime minister, but the prime minister continues to be stronger than the groups ," he said.
According to Hoxha, organized crime in Albania is not unbearable, but he fears the state. " Crime tries more to corrupt and threaten low officials ," he emphasized.
According to him, crime during campaigns has the moment to shoot because the attention of the state goes to the elections and this is the challenge of the director of the police and the minister of the interior.
