The fashion workers are protesting the delay in the investigations against the

A group of women and girls, former employees of the "Ozgun Kan Albania" factory, protested on Saturday in front of the Fier District Prosecutor's Office, as they claim that the investigations against the company, which has not paid them salaries for two months, are dragging on.

The protest is supported by the "Coalition for Decent Work", which has supported the workers in filing the lawsuit. The criminal complaint against the owners of the fashion factory was made two months ago and through it the workers seek to force the company to pay off its debts.

"We are organized today with the help of the "Coalition for Decent Work" to protest the delay in the investigation process, the delay in the tax audits of the company where we worked and to protest that the entire fashion sector has fair wages and working conditions. worthy", says the protestors' statement.

Employees say they have no information about what happened to the report. "We were called two months ago to testify and since then we have no information from the prosecutor's office about the owner of the fashion shop and the investigation," said Ornela Bruhamaj, one of the protesters.

The Fier Prosecutor's Office was not available for comment. The company and its executives could not be reached. The workers also said that they no longer have contact with fashion industry representatives.

The protesters claim that they have been left without wages for 2 months and 10 days, while they say that, although small, this payment is important for them. "We are women and girls who work in the so-called "fasoneri". We work hard and unstable jobs, with low wages and insecure continuity. We live in financial difficulties and at the limits of survival", said Selvi Vrapi, one of the workers.

Vrapi said that the lack of salary for two months penalized and affected their families. The protesters said they had been working in harsh conditions and with minimal pay and no minimum rights.

The organization of the protest on October 7 was related to the fact that it is known as the awareness day for fashion workers.

"All over the country, the sector has big problems with labor contracts, with working conditions and many shortcomings in the implementation of the Labor Code", said Gertjana Hasalla, representative of the Coalition for Decent Work.

Representatives of the Decent Work Coalition want this case to become a precedent that supports workers to end abuses by companies in this sector.

"Specifically, today we ask the prosecutor's office and the court to turn this case into a precedent to force the employers to pay off the workers so that there will be no more situations like this of these ladies", said Hasalla. /BIRN
