The criminal situation in Elbasan seems to be more stable in recent years, and for this prosecutor Kreshnik Ajazi says that several factors have influenced it, from the arrest of some high-risk persons, the attack on some criminal groups, the punishment of some of them and others who are left abroad declared wanted.
In an interview on 'ABC News' for the show 'Gjërat tona', Ajazi also talks about the operations of the most wanted, among them Talo Çela.
Excerpt from the interview:
Elbasan is considered a problematic district, there is a period that seems to have calmed down. How is the criminal situation in Elbasan presented today?
Kreshnik Ajazi: Overall, the crime situation in Elbasan has not been very different compared to the crime situation in the entire territory of Albania. So, there are serious events and situations with certain forms of criminal groups in every large urban center in Albania. In cooperation with the state police, we have focused on some priority directions of our work, focusing mainly on the investigation and on the desire to have concrete results mainly regarding serious crimes. Of course, there are disturbing forms related to the sale of narcotics, we have had significant results this year. This type of criminality has received serious responses. Other forms are the ones that are encountered more often, domestic violence, theft, or even criminal offenses related to road safety remain worrying.
Of the 5 most wanted, today in Albania, three of them, including Laert Haxhina, belong to Elbasan, but there was also a hit by the criminal contingents, maybe this managed to somehow calm the situation?
Kreshnik Ajazi: Criminal prosecution bodies have their responsibility in the investigation and then in the trial of criminal offenses. The research part is under the responsibility of the State Police. To the extent that it has been requested or deemed necessary, on our part in all the cases that have been requested, special methods have been applied in order to capture them, within the limits allowed by the law, the search process is complex. Some are persons wanted on behalf of the prosecution of Elbasan, some are on behalf of other prosecutions, including SPAK. And to my knowledge, operational actions have been developed and are being developed, concrete steps are taken, in order to catch the wanted persons. The activity has become more difficult, and therefore brings a more favorable situation.
