The government lies to farmers with 30 million euros!

The money is for concessions. The pennies remain for the farmers.

Within this month, the Council of Ministers will approve the National Scheme for the support of farmers for this year, which, as foreseen in the budget, is expected to be only 3.3 billion ALL.

Sources from the Ministry claim that the new scheme for the support of agriculture and livestock will come with changes, as it will be aimed at increasing the number of beneficiaries. (The scheme includes the support of livestock farmers, beekeepers, tax-free oil, financing of fishing or the support of farmers with seeds and seedlings).

A key point will be the union of farmers who do not meet the criteria to benefit. During the meetings in the field, Minister Anila Denaj has asked livestock farmers to unite in order to increase their profits. "Our policies go towards encouraging the union of livestock farmers, their interests, for a higher profit and a better quality product," said Minister Anila Denaj during meetings with farmers.

In this case, those farmers who have more than 10 cows receive a subsidy in the amount of 10,000 Lek, and all those farmers who have herds of more than 100 cows receive 1,200 Lek for each head of sheep or goat.

Meanwhile, it is being discussed that the rest who have fewer cattle than these figures should benefit through the merger of the herds. The same request has been made for the union of farmers who have small areas of land, in order to benefit from the government's support schemes.

"The association of operators is a fantastic opportunity for farmers in cultivating the same crop, following protocols with the same standard and for certain processes such as buying agricultural inputs and finding markets.

With our support policies, especially through this year's National Scheme, we will give priority to farmers who apply by joining, with the objective of strengthening cooperation and their position in domestic and foreign markets", says Denaj during a meeting with farmers in Drool

The budget for the Ministry of Agriculture for 2024 is planned in the amount of 14.1 billion ALL, while the number of beneficiaries from the National Scheme is expected to be around 33 thousand. In conditions where bank financing for the agricultural sector is also truncated, the National Scheme and the provision of tax-free oil are the main support that farmers receive.

Referring to the data of the Bank of Albania, during the past year banks have given to one of the most important sectors of the country only 2.7 billion lek, or about 0.9% of the total new loan given to the entire economy during the past year. Until now, funds from IPARD are also missing, after the suspension of this program last year./Capitali
