"Judicial reprimand" is the innovation that comes as an alternative punishment.
Journalist Anila Hoxha has explained that the judicial reprimand will be given by the criminal court and it is an alternative that brings at the same time the minimization of the state's expenses.
"As a new figure, it is very new when it comes to alternative punishments. Alternative punishments include several punishments, among them the conditional sentence, that is, where the suffering of the judicial decision in the cell is avoided. Among them, judicial reprimand has been introduced, which is a new and innovative figure in case it will be approved by all actors. It is worth noting that all actors of justice, including the school of magistracy, the General Prosecutor's Office, the High Council of Prosecutors, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of the Interior, the State Police, each of them who are part of the working group, give the references of them to bring a new criminal code, the most recent one that has been approved, is within the framework of the justice reform in 2017, while it has been noticed that due to many phenomena in Albanian society, starting for example with the need for not only announcing the sentence of imprisonment of a perpetrator of a crime, judicial reprimand has also been proposed as a new approach. This judicial reprimand given by the criminal court for minor offenses must first be accepted by the person who has committed the crime or the criminal misdemeanor to the maximum extent provided by the criminal code, the criminal offense with a maximum of 1 year imprisonment. This would bring not only judicial economy, but it would bring a minimization of the expenses of the Albanian state in terms of keeping those persons who have been declared or are waiting to be convicted or acquitted by the court, it would also give a reduction of the bill financial that Albanians pay.
