Baby milk powder that was marketed in Albania after controls carried out by the National Agency for Health Insurance (AKU) resulted in bacteria that are dangerous to health.
Albania has been informed through the RASFF System that following checks carried out by the Italian authorities, the presence of the substance Cereulide was found in infant formula originating from the Netherlands, constituting a potential risk to human health.
According to a statement from the National Food Authority, after conducting checks and following traceability, it has blocked the stock of the product, destined for destruction.
The AKU calls on consumers who have purchased and still have this product to immediately return it to the point of sale.
In this case, the NFA has carried out the relevant notification within the RASFF system, following standard food safety procedures.
"Following the ALERT notification, Albania is notified by the RASFF System (RAPID ALERT SYSTEM FOR FOOD AND FEED) where, after controls carried out by Italy, it was found that "the presence of the substance Cereulide in infant formula originating from the Netherlands" constitutes a potential risk to human health.

After conducting checks and following up on traceability, the NFA has blocked the stock quantity of the product for disposal.
"AKU calls on consumers if they have purchased this product and are able to, to return it to the points of sale. AKU has made the relevant notification to the RASFF Notifications category in this case," the announcement states.
