The Director of Management at the National Academy of Food and Agriculture, Martin Jorgaqi, spoke about the scandal of foods contaminated with salmonella.
He emphasized in the "Open" show on News24 that the AKU has a controlling role and that such cases occur in other countries as well. According to him, the salmonella came from Brazil. Jorgaqi added that the AKU has followed the same procedures as those of the European Union and there have been no complaints from consumers so far.
" Contaminated foods also occur in the world. The AKU has a controlling and not blocking role. Products have different shelf lives. In this specific case, the National Food Authority carries out the same procedures that it carries out in EU countries. Salmonella came from Brazil, because it is a global distributor of meat.
"It does not appear that there is any quantity of this meat on the market, even in the traceability we have done for the entities that have received this product. 2.6 tons of salmonella may have been consumed. We have had contact with the Institute of Public Health and we have not had any reports from consumers ," he said.
