The misfortune of a people turned into wealth for a handful of local officials. We have the names, the facts are coming out one by one...
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha comes out and talks about the scandals and abuses of reconstruction funds after the earthquake, but he still has not turned his head from another unprecedented corruption massacre that took place in Peza, Ndroq and Vora. In these areas, clans known for their political connections have built real financial empires on the misfortune of citizens.
Berisha was in Durrës today and saw up close some families who have not received any help from the state. He accused Gjushi and Emiriana Sakon, but there is a bigger massacre in Tirana.
Berisha should visit Peza where Besmir Kola, the former administrator of the unit, who, although he has been publicly and publicly denounced by dozens of residents for property alienation, has become one of the largest beneficiaries of reconstruction funds.
The houses were built for "affected relatives", but in fact ended up in the names of brothers-in-law, brothers, close friends and clients of the local government. Kola himself today has several properties, expensive cars and buildings that he cannot justify with any state salary.
In Ndroq, the situation is even more ridiculous. Xhavit Ceka, former captain and then unit leader, has included the entire tribe in the reconstruction scheme. While the homeless are still sleeping in barracks, people without any damage to their homes have received aid, grants, and even apartments. Sources within the municipality claim that over 100 building permits have been issued on state land, in the name of people connected to Xhavit. All this, with the criminal silence of the institutions.
Blerim Shera, otherwise known as the “Mammoth of Reconstruction,” has set up a veritable racketeering ring. State land donated to earthquake victims has been appropriated by his friends. Shera has bought villas in Lalzi Bay, apartments in Tirana, and a fleet of luxury cars. He is not just a local official, he is the symbol of what happened after the earthquake: extortion with stamps, with tenders, and with fake names.
So instead of Sali Berisha continuing to listen only to the words of those who have seen nothing but the screen of "Edi Rama", let him go himself to Peza, to Ndroq, to Vora. Let him talk to the people, let him see the ruined houses and the new palaces of the local oligarchs. One of the worst thefts that Albania has seen in the last decade took place there.
Let's not forget that we also have a Pastor who travels from village to village as if he had descended from heaven. We are talking about Toni Gogu who forgets that his party is in power and goes to villages promising property certificates. He appeared in the village of Arbanë a few days ago, a forgotten area, but which the pastor uses to collect votes. There were also some houses damaged by the earthquake there, but Pastor Gogu did not remember at that time.
Let us not forget: the misfortune of a people turned into wealth for a handful of local officials. We have the names, the facts are coming out one by one. Now we await justice or at least a strong voice to call them by name. /Pamphlet
