The return of OPDAT experts to SPAK and FBI experts to BKH is considered a national interest by President Trump's administration.
This is indicated by the comment of an official from the US Embassy in Tirana after being asked what the return of these experts last week was related to.
The response sent exclusively to 'Top Channel' via email states: "In accordance with President Trump's January 20 Executive Order Reassessing and Reorganizing United States Foreign Assistance, Secretary Rubio initiated a review of all U.S. foreign assistance to ensure that programs are effective and consistent with U.S. foreign policy under the 'America First' agenda. Several programs deemed essential to U.S. national interests have resumed, while the foreign assistance review is still ongoing."
This comment by the American Embassy in Tirana puts an end to the debates and hand-wringing by some Albanian politicians, who loudly trumpeted the departure of these American experts.
Meanwhile, every other US aid program for Albania continues to be blocked, except for the SPAK and BKH programs./ TCH
