Today, 142 convicts from Fushë-Krujë prison have been transferred to various prisons in the country.
It is learned that 85 prisoners are being transferred to the Peqin Penitentiary and 57 prisoners to the Durrës Penitentiary.
It is also reported that full measures have been taken for the protection and escort of prisoners by the Operational Forces under the direction of the relevant Specialists. 340 police officers and over 48 blue force vehicles were involved in the operation.
Authorities say that there are no high-risk individuals among those transferred and most of them have been convicted of simple or trivial crimes. The transfer is being done as part of the reconstruction of the building.
"In implementation of the Measure Plan no. 1261, dated 23.01.2026, and due to the reconstruction of the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions (IEVP) Fushë-Krujë, the process of transferring convicts to other institutions for serving sentences has begun.
Specifically, a total of 142 prisoners were transferred, of which 85 to the Peqin Penitentiary and 57 to the Durrës Penitentiary. For the implementation of this process, all necessary measures have been taken for the protection and escort of prisoners by operational forces, under the direction of the relevant specialists. Also, the Tirana Local Police Directorate, the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, as well as the relevant police stations, have been notified of the movement, in accordance with the determined itinerary.
The convoy of 57 prisoners arrived without problems at the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, where the institution has taken full measures to receive, control and accommodate them, under the direction of the institution's leaders.
Likewise, the convoy of 85 prisoners arrived without problems at the Peqin Penitentiary Institution, where all standard procedures for the reception, control and accommodation of prisoners were implemented, under the guidance of the institution's leaders.
"The transfer process was carried out smoothly, safely and in full compliance with applicable legal acts and regulations," the announcement states.
