Tonight in "Te Pashoq" the artist Irini Qirjako spoke about the great uproar caused by the case of Parashqevi Simaku.
The moment the video was released, what did you experience when you saw Parashqevi Simak in the video?
I experienced it, my friend, even now that we are talking, I feel ashamed. To see a colleague of yours, a great artist, in that state is terribly painful and excruciating. I cried for several days in a row. I am an artist myself and I know the values from the professional side, her talent, her vocals. The sweetness, the warm voice, the pure diction, the spirit she gave. Not all singers have her femininity. God gave her all the things to be a complete artist.
Did you have information about her life in the US?
When we went to the state assembly in 1994, we tried to meet him there, but he did not appear and we did not have the opportunity to meet him. We couldn't contact him at all, but we couldn't find him. Parashkevia was a high rank. We have heard that she has claims for an artistic career. He wanted to enter Hollywood, and then we were happy and said, I wish it would come true. I liked that he sought the best possible and did not stay in one place. There was ambition and determination to achieve something. He didn't like singing in bars as you are dealing with a heterogeneous audience. She was used to singing only on stage. Later we found out that she married an American musician, she also came here to the RTSH festival. Later he disappeared and we knew nothing about him. I was worried because I knew something had happened to this girl. He had been in this predicament for over a decade.
Have you talked to colleagues to find out more about her life and why it ended the way it did?
Her biggest trauma was being abandoned by her son, not her husband. They took the baby from her lap and I can only imagine how she felt after not seeing her again. This was a blow for her, she waited at the bus stop every day at 6 in the hope that her son would come to meet her. She suffered a major psychological blow and I think she is not well mentally and needs support.
Do you think there is something wrong with this story, because he had friends in the US? No one offered to help?
Who won't help if you don't want help? She entered her own world and did not ask for help from anyone. Gëzim Nika tried for 12 consecutive years to look for him, but they did not find him. He and his nephew looked for him in America and they did not find him. She closed herself off in her own world and was psychologically battered.
Do you justify all this media hype? Should it be done like this, should every possible detail be published at this difficult moment, spoiling her image?
It should have been handled more delicately, but I was bothered by the few people who spoke on social networks. I was revolted and outraged how she can speak such a bad language and I hope they didn't do it for clicks prejudging her life. But the media did well to make it public, because that's how we found it.
