The Durrës Prosecutor's Office said that it is continuing the investigations for the transportation of waste, smuggling of prohibited goods and abuse of duty, however, the proceedings continue to be recorded without concrete names of suspects.
The containers whose destination was Thailand returned to Albania and under seizure have not yet been opened, as the investigation group has not found the list of experts who will carry out the scientific analysis of the industrial waste, sent under an export agreement by the Sokolaj company that had bought them. from Kurum company in Elbasan.
The investigation group said that it has also seized this decision of the Minister of the Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, which revoked the operator Sokolaj's license for transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The controls have established that Sokolaj has not fulfilled the conditions of the license.
This administrative investigation was challenged by judges in the administrative court.
The administrative court has not yet announced a decision, where parties are not only the private entity but also the national environmental agency, which through the inspection directorate has fined Sokolaj and the amount of 1 million and 300 thousand lek./TCH
