New road to Drilon, residents of Gurras in Pogradec protest: Our lands were

Residents of the village of Gurras in the city of Pogradec are protesting today after their agricultural lands were affected by the construction of a new road connecting the Gurras springs area with Driloni.

According to the residents, to date, no expropriation procedure has been carried out, and neither the occupied area of the land nor the value of compensation has been determined.

The residents say that they have ownership certificates for the lands, obtained under Law 7501 or purchased later. They claim that construction equipment was introduced into their properties without warning and that the municipality of Pogradec has not yet given them any explanation for the situation.

According to them, the project is nearing completion and their biggest fear is that the road will be taken over without first completing the expropriation procedures, which would leave them without any possibility of compensation for the lost land.

The new road passes through the lands of about 120 families, while a good part of those involved in agriculture have been completely affected, leaving them without property. The area where the road is being built is a former peat swamp, known for its high agricultural production.

Residents warn that if the municipality does not intervene to resolve the expropriation issue, they will protest and block the works.

On the other hand, off-camera representatives of the Pogradec Municipality told "News 24" that the expropriation procedure is still in progress, but no deadline has yet been given for when it will be completed.
