The preliminary hearing at the GJKKO against Ilir Meta, former President of the Republic, Monika Kryemadhi, his ex-wife and 3 other defendants, against whom SPAK has filed a series of charges, lasted only a few minutes. The reason for the suspension of the hearing was the absence of Kryemadhi's lawyer, while the next hearing will be held on November 11.
But the postponement of the hearing has angered Ilir Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, who has accused Judge Irena Gjoka of being blackmailed by SPAK.
On the other hand, SPAK has received a letter of request from the United States related to the lobbying that the former LSI, a party led by Meta and Kryemadhi, has carried out in the US. SPAK has presented this new evidence in the file, while Meta's lawyer has requested more time to be acquainted with it. However, in a statement to the media, he presented this new evidence of SPAK as irrelevant, since according to him it is a contract between a lobbying firm and a businessman. "In that contract there is neither a signature nor a seal, from Mr. Meta or the entity he led", said Cakrani.
Meanwhile, Monika Kryemadhi, in a statement to the media, chose to attack the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani.
According to her, SPAK continues to blackmail Ilir Meta and her family with ongoing investigations even though the file has been sent for trial.
She targeted Altin Duman, describing him as a soldier of Yuri Kim, the former US ambassador.
"The investigation continues, if the investigation file had been closed on July 27, the Prosecution continues to investigate, calls witnesses and the investigation into Meta, Kryemadhi, my mother, etc. continues. That is, we are in a preliminary investigation and the reason for which it has been investigated in this way is to keep Meta in prison, me and my family under pressure. Those who want to do it are loyal soldiers of Yuri Kim, even though he is on the way out," said Kryemadhi.
SPAK claims that corruption schemes and abuses of power were uncovered during the investigations. In addition to Meta and Kryemadhi, three other people have been sent to trial.
On August 29, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office closed the investigations and sent Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi to trial, on charges of passive corruption, money laundering, and failure to declare assets.
Recall that Meta has opposed the first instance decision, requesting the mitigation or lifting of the arrest measure, while his defense has described the measure as unjustified and political.
