
Two cousins, Gazment and Kalosh Peposhi, have been sent to trial for allegedly buying votes for the PSD in the May 11 parliamentary elections. They will face charges of active corruption in the elections.
The official SPAK announcement states that the two Peposhi cousins, in collaboration with each other, promised and gave money to voters in the Ujmisht Administrative Unit in Kukës in exchange for votes.
The arrest of 27-year-old Kalosh Peposhi took place the day before the May 11 elections, from whom 205,500 new lek and 525 euros, a mobile phone (Iphone) and a vehicle (Mercedes Benz) were also seized. Gazment Peposhi, who is also the headman of the village of Lusen, is still being sought.
"The Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has completed the investigations and on 28.10.2025, has sent for trial criminal proceeding no. 83 of 2025, against the two defendants:
Kalosh Peposhi, accused of committing the criminal offense of "Active corruption in elections", committed in collaboration, provided for by articles 328 and 25 of the Criminal Code, investigated with the security measure "arrest in prison";
Gazmend Peposhi, accused of committing the criminal offense of "Active corruption in elections", committed in collaboration, provided for by articles 328 and 25 of the Criminal Code, investigated with the security measure "arrest in prison", in absentia.
The criminal proceedings were registered based on the reference material of the Kukes Local Police Directorate, charging the above citizens with the criminal offense of "Active Corruption in Elections", committed in collaboration, during the election campaign for the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025.
From the acts administered during the proactive investigation and the follow-up with special investigative methods (interception of telephone communications, surveillance and other investigative actions), it has resulted that the defendants Gazmend Peposhi and Kalosh Peposhi were involved in illegal activities in the Kukës district, during the elections for the Albanian Parliament.
During the election campaign, the defendants, in collaboration with each other, promised and gave monetary sums to voters of the Ujmisht Administrative Unit, in exchange for voting in a certain way, in support of the political entity "Social Democratic Party of Albania".
"The investigation has revealed that the defendants were active in the election campaign in support of this political entity, offering and distributing monetary means to voters to influence their voting ," SPAK reports.
