Global Peace Summit for Ukraine, President Begaj: Russian aggression, threat to

President Bajram Begaj says that Albania is honored to participate in the Global Peace Summit that was held in Switzerland, while expressing full support for its goals.

"This summit represents an important gathering of nations with the common goal of finding a path that, from the darkness of conflict, will lead us to the light of peace. Russian aggression against Ukraine has caused great loss of human life, destruction and displacement of the population.

This human tragedy prompts us to see the peace process not as a distant ideal, but as an immediate necessity. It is our responsibility to pave the way to peace, ensuring that every step away from war and conflict.

Russian aggression is a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, an open violation of international laws and a threat to peace and security on the European continent and beyond," said Begaj.

According to the Albanian Head of State, our challenge is monumental – to develop a framework for a future peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

Begaj said that it is vital that these states coexist peacefully within internationally recognized borders.

"Albania has strongly condemned the Russian aggression. We take a clear stand in defense of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Albania considers President Zelenski's peace formula as the way to restore a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.

Any peace process must be led by Ukraine. Albania will continue to support Ukraine until peace is achieved, in accordance with the UN Charter, respecting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and including responsibility for Russia's actions.
The road to peace must never be a road of surrender. It must be a road built with the courage to uphold our values. As we look for a solution, we must ensure that support for Ukraine continues.

We have gathered here not to compel but to encourage, not to impose but to propose paths to peace that respect the interests and integrity of all.

Together, let's transform today's hope into tomorrow's peace!", said Begaj.
