Berlin Summit, EU leaders inaugurate the European College of Tirana

From September 2024, the College of Bryzhit will start working in Tirana. Today, the college was inaugurated within the Berlin Process summit, in the presence of European and regional leaders.

It was Rector Frederika Mogherini who gave the opening speech, followed by Ursula Von Der Leyen and Charles Michel.

" We are inaugurating today in beautiful Tirana, in this wonderful location, the first office of the College of Europe here in Tirana, which will lead the way for the establishment of our branch, which will start activities next September 2024-2025. It's really an honor for me, I'm very proud, you can see my smile, it's a genuine smile. I would first like to thank all those who made such a thing possible, first of all, our friends, our Albanian partners, Ed, the entire government, the mayor, all the friends who in a few months did everything this and what is to come. I would like to thank the European institutions, Ursula, the member states. All this started less than a year ago, at the EU-Western Balkans Summit here in Tirana ", emphasized during her speech, the rector of the College of Europe, Federika Mogherini.

While the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, during her speech at the inauguration ceremony, said that this is a monumental step that paves the way for the establishment of the Tirana branch as the first branch of the College of Europe since the creation of the Natolini campus.

" Today not only celebrate the establishment of a physical presence but we reaffirm our common commitment to the transformative power of education. The College of Europe has been a beacon of European integration, the key to educating several generations of leaders, diplomats and researchers. For more than seven decades it has stood as a testimony to the lasting commitment to the European ideal. As we open the doors of this representative office, we do so with a deep sense of purpose and hope that only education can feed us. It is not only the transfer of knowledge but the cultivation of a mindset that represents change and innovation ," she said.
